Workshops & Master Classes

For booking information, please email me at: theinnerlifeofballet@gmail.com

I teach workshops, master classes and faculty in-services for ballet schools and companies. These offerings are a wonderful way for students and teachers to get more information about a topic that can't always be explored within the traditional time frame of a ballet class. Also, more of an interactive approach to learning can be utilized, which encourages individual engagement with the material.

Current workshops and master classes include:

Getting Up on the Standing Leg

Activating Turnout on the Pilates Reformer

Hyperextension - Dynamic Cueing Ideas for Dancers and Teachers

Exploring Turnout with the GYROTONIC® Method

Creating Space for Turnout

Faculty in-services are a wonderful way to take a fresh look at an existing curriculum and refine teaching skills. Topics can be customized for your needs and previous topics have included:

Teaching Turnout

Pointe Work Readiness

Breathing, Core Activation, and Alignment

Port de Bras

The Psoas

Arabesque

“It is critical that the dance world become more scientific and thoughtful about how we train young dancers. The demands on their physical structures as performers far surpass anything that has been seen to date, with the expectation that every dancer does every kind of dance… often even in one week or one day! Alicia Head is a guiding force for smart, methodical training that prepares dancers for today’s work. She is an inspiration to dance teachers across the globe, and she makes professional development for pedagogues and students accessible, friendly, and fun.”

“Alicia Head’s ‘The Inner Life of Ballet’ workshops are artful and enthusiastic in presentation. The depth and precision of knowledge on the biomechanics of movement, is spot on and extremely effective in physically manifesting movement that considers skeletal limitations and the health of a dancer’s body. I highly recommend Alicia’s workshops as a tool for dancers and teachers to help dancers achieve genuine and anatomically correct movement as they aspire to greater physical prowess as artists and athletes.”
